Every horse in the race ran in the same heat, and I doubt the horse cared what time of day he ran.

No kidding, but how many of these have won the Florida Derby , Kentucky Derby and the Haskell?

This horses resume and record speaks for itself. You had clowns on here still dissing him. Some posts suggested he was finished when he finally “placed “ in one race...., the only one he lost. Damn near fell out if the gate to lose that one too. There’s reality, then there’s fandom, wishy washy, woulda, shoulda, coulda, internet land . Reality is, that horse would not relent yesterday. Tough as nails.

War Story was quite impressive, took on all challengers.

As with humans, horses react to various weather conditions differently.
Also, as with humans, horses know when"its time to go". It is part of their routine. Some horses are more relaxed than others. Those which get amped up for their race then must wait, expend energy at a faster pace than others. We called it "on the engine".
So yes, the delay and weather would likely have an adverse effect on some horses.

Travers will tell a large part of this story.
Big "IF" there...That is IF the top three year olds connections decide to show up on Aug 24th at the Spa.

Sure, but only one horse gutted it out and WON.

His Derby was also a gutty effort. In the slop, repelled the best from several challengers and still crossed the wire first.

This horse has battled when needed and overcome it during some of the biggest races for 3YO. You can hate him or his trainer or his jockey all you want, but no 3YO has done more than MS.

There really isn't a case for anybody else at this point and MS just showed us there never really should have been since at least the first Saturday in May.

He didn’t win the derby, finished first placed 17th for interfering with multiple horses.

His got two g1 under his belt not three.

A lone camera angle used didn't appear to show Maximum Security clearly disrupting King for a Day's path.
He was booed and called, "cheater". UGH.

“He’s aggressive. He’s an aggressive rider for sure,” the trainer said, but just like the (Kentucky) Derby, there’s nothing he did there to warrant being taken down. And with the Derby, it was all done wrong. It was ridiculous. I don’t know how they got away with it.
