There were multiple annoying customers come up to the bar at Agua Caliente back when they had live racing there 30+ years ago. They would come up to watch the TVs above the bar during the simulcast racing and many of them beat on the bar. I even saw a few guys knock over people's drinks. A few times I really had to bite my tongue, no way I want to start crap with a Mexican citizen in Mexico.

I am very subdued watching races. I noticed most of the loud people don't bet very much.
I do have a dialog of sorts but it is as much with the horse as the jockey. Just a wee bit of encouragement.

At the top of the stretch, I will whisper, "Have a horse."

Not too intrusive.

At least not any more. LOL

I am the same Dave. My favorite personally is "you have plenty of horse" or "he hasn't even asked him yet".

When I am betting at home and watching TVG or Express Bet I am the opposite of how I behave in public. I scream, yell, and cuss so much the neighbors can probably hear me and the closest one is over 1/4 mile away.

I often wonder why so many people in the grandstand yell instructions to riders.THEY CAN'T hear a thing said

Thats a great question. All of the sudden the railbird in the trenches at Aqueduct becomes D. Lukas and telling Johnny V how to ride.

Because they're into the moment.

If you have to wonder about the moment, why are you even a horse-racing fan?

Which is the bigger lie a horseplayer has ever said at the track or OTB?

"ONE TIME!"

or

"Yep, I'm on my way home!"

When I would go to Beulah Park in Grove City, Ohio, one bettor would start yelling as the race started, (Go 2, then Go 6, then Go 1, by the end of the race, he would have yelled for over half of the horses. Never knew which one he wanted to win, but I think he had most of them covered.)

and then he shows everybody his $1 exacta ticket... "SEE...I HAD IT! I HAD IT COLD!!!"

It gets even better when the guy is flaunting his winning ticket around and you see an INQUIRY go up. Then, his commentary turns from the race to the stewards.

"YOU'D HAVE TO BE AN IDIOT TO TAKE THIS HORSE DOWN"!!!

"If this horse comes down, I'm quitting!"

one of the reasons i dont play as much....those moments have definitely become less exciting, at least compared to the old days.

OTB Day Care a must

But now we must home school our kids and grand kids since OTB closures and Covid.

I hope you are complying with home schooling or I will have to turn you in to HISA!
