Mandaloun...
He deserves his own thread now........after all, he's soon to be the Derby winner.
Here's what we got:
Next race: Pegasus........Haskell to follow.
Had a couple good 4f works in a row.
Couple of interesting breeding notes:
His sire (Into Mischief) has sent out two Derby winners in a row.
His broodmare (Brooch) never raced on dirt.

Personally, I’ve been a fan of both Bill Mott and Juddmonte, looks like both will get derby wins via DQ.
Juddmonte breeds some beautiful horses, Enable is one of my favorites and was fortunate to see her in person at the BC. Regardless, it would be interesting to try Mandaloun on the turf given dam side pedigree. Curious to see who takes the mount in NJ, I wonder how many jocks will refuse to ride in NJ or will it just end up being talk once money is on the line.

I wouldn't break out the champagne just yet on being the Derby winner. There is no doubt in my mind that this winds up in federal court and who knows what a judge will rule.

What a complete mess this is. Who did the judge bet on in the Derby?

I would say there is roughly a 99.99% chance that Medina Spirit will be DQed from the Derby if the split sample confirms the finding. Baffert isn't getting out of this one.

The 1968 Dancers Image deal took about 5 years to work out. But in the end he was DQed . I think that horse had won 12 races before the derby and was second choice. Same deal he was positive for a drug that was ok up until race day, Phenylbutazone . No one knows/admits what really happened because apparently there were politics involved because Fuller sympathized with the Martin Luther King family. Some claim it was sabotage but the horse did have an ankle problem. But a judge most likely will look at this and what happened before and ask . Did both tests come back positive? Is it a drug that breaks the race day rules? How’s he gonna rule anyway but DQ? How it got into the horse is pretty much an irreverent excuse to the law and if it’s over the prescribed rule limit , your chances of beating that are slim.

Mandaloun seems similar to the type of Bafferts 'B' horses in years past, that step up and run well in some stakes.
He had a great trip in the Derby, and ran a solid race.
In the Monmouth race Brad Cox got a chance to really let him run to his ceiling.
