Is that like Frankel/Excelebration/Dubawi Gold etc etc?

These leading horses are going to tend to beat the same horses over and over. The key point is to see what that horse running 2nd or 3rd is doing when not racing against the "star" horse

If you look at Hay List's record you will find it is excellent when he is not racing in races featuring Black Caviar. I have no doubt Hay List is better than Ortensia and Star Witness and if that is the case then Hay List is on a par with the likes of Rocket Man (Ortensia and Star Witness both having won or placed in overseas races in the last 2 years)

I'm going to repeat myself.

I don't think it's so unusual for a 6 year old with 21 starts to start declining from her peak. In fact, I'd think it's more likely than not. If that's the case, then I doubt we saw peak Black Caviar. That makes it a shame because some people are going to be tempted (understandably) to evaluate her career off this one race because her Aussie form and competition is somewhat mysterious to most of us.

It's hard to evaluate cross border form, but I thought one interesting point made above was that other Aussie sprinters have done well at Ascot historically, but in his opinion none of them was even close to Black Caviar while racing in Australia.

I have more faith that someone familiar with Australian racing can evaluate her relative to other Aussie sprinters, look at how they did at Ascot, and conclude yesterday wasn't her best than just looking at the result.

good commentary in my opinion.
she will be on the way out for sure, but even accounting for that, that was not the real bc as she stands NOW.

your comments re hay list are spot on in my opinion, although i would say "much better" than ortensia.
rocket man is very good but when you can race in kranji stakes "a" races and only carry 59.5 and meet your opposition on very favourable terms then it certainly gets a lot of free wins.

Hay list is most certainly the best dressed racehorse I've ever seen
