US Congressman Mike Pence gave the following speech on the floor of the US House of Representatives today calling on Democrats to sign a discharge petition that would bring H.R. 2905, the Broadcaster Freedom Act, to the floor of the US House. The Broadcaster Freedom Act would ensure that no future president could bring back the Fairness Doctrine without an act of Congress. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is quoted this morning saying she supports reviving the Fairness Doctrine.

Pelosi has sent the word out, no Democrat in the House is going to sign that discharge position. It needs 218 or 219 signatures, and she's sent down the message from on high. So you see that wherever you look, whether it's global warming, whether it's the Fairness Doctrine, it doesn't matter, there is an all-out attempt here to snuff out as much individual liberty as possible. It's been going kind of slow, like a trickle effect so that people haven't really noticed it. The people losing their liberty have. But it's been very, very gradual over years. This is going to be a giant grab of federal power, if these people get everything they want in the upcoming election.

Great civilizations have been built on a cooperative effort of it's citizens in coming to what the Constitution states in the preamble.
"We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America."

As to global warming-cooling , whatever, there is nothing wrong with a cap and trade if the market can be set up privately. It can.

There are some fledgling attempts and of course EU.
They seem to have made a hash of it so far, but one can profit from their hash.

We trade forests, water,electricity, you name it.

I would welcome it , just some more easy pickings I suspect.

And that same documents was later ammended to include specific rights of it's citizens. Somehow, tell me what light bulb I have to use fails to meet the spirit of that document, as does mandating I buy health care insurance, hell, mandating that I buy anything!. Nancy Pelsoi is already hinting of going after free speech through the unfainess doctrine.

One of those specific rights was today, almost eliminated by one man! One old man. Good think he had his fiber for breakfast. Very scary.

It is not cooperation when one is mandated what to do.
