WizFile close, but the configuration to restrict folder (directories) doesn't work (at least beyond entire Drive.
There's an option (add Folder) but it doesn't change the results away from the Entire Drive.
Did go through the file options/types and eliminated many (wasn't near as time consuming as Win 10: LOL)
There's not even a folder/directory option in the Filters (1, 2, or 3).
The previously mentioned 981 number now changes to 1,911, which may be something to consider.

Sheesh!
All this poking around (many google searches and reading of Win 10 Forums (not to mention help here ) for days and this morning found that the Windows Explorer in Win 10 is not even close to the Windows Explorer (actually named File Explorer (never knew that) in XP and two entirely different creatures.
Win 10 Windows Explorer is NOT an actual file exploring utility, despite it's appearance . (At least in my unique requirements).
Found something (in MS Answers) that is very effective (FREE open source), however far more complicated (many, many file options that I'll never use).

I always found the file manager in Windows a bit limiting. I like the idea of side-by-side panes to manage files/folders. That is why I use Free Commander. FC, Multi Commander, Total Commander, Metro Commander, Directory Opus, etc are all similar file managers. Actually, there was a per directory file limit back in the XP days.
I wouldn't have known if I didn't hit it back when I was getting tote info pushed at me.
Sometimes the system would fall behind in the middle of the night when the big data is coming. Just imagine all of those scratch sheets. (That was literally the cause.)
Anyway, don't recall the exact number of files but it was between 23,000 and 24,000.
Also, no idea how such a number could be picked. LOL
I mean, programmers usually do things in powers of 2, so 32,768 was logical.

I had to look it up. According to Microsoft Technet, an NTFS formatted drive can have 4,294,967,295 total files on a volume (2^32 -1). This amount is fixed regardless of the number of directories. File sizes aren't an issue as the storage limit is 16 exabytes.

I had multiple software references that mentioned the 'number of files limit' in XP, however as previously mentioned, I had 65k in one folder and 85k in another folder and never had a problem searching file names.
Even the old desktop software (also installed on Win 10) mentions number of files limits, but the limit never applied.

I think the difference was that some people had an NT install under the hood, while others didn't.
Sorry I missed your previous explanation.

I know I'm late to the party here (as usual). I've been using this file manager for a dozen or so years and only upgraded once for windows 10.

I downloaded it and within 10 minutes, dumped it.
Two deal-breaker problems:
1. Could not find anything that resembled an organized tutorial.
2. They warned that it could be slow.
Solution offered was to disable the virus checker!
It looks like a great program but not for me.

Dave, I can't speak to the current version, mine is V 10.5, around 10 years old and it does not affect speed to the best of my knowledge. The help file was enough to become very functional. I never upgraded because what I have works so well. Maybe the author tried too hard to make a good thing "better". Sorry you ran into problems.

Oh, you have nothing to apologize for.
The software just looks excellent.
I just cannot justify the time to learn this software.
I've got almost everything I need already mapped in The Brain (software) and when I struggle to find something I just add it.
By the way, that software is really cool.
