I thought a lot of him, until today. Maybe he is simply not that good. Nothing wrong with the ride at all IMO. And I needed him to cash a decent double off of a price in the 3rd. Ill tell you now, I have liked the 3 for a while. He will win a big race somewhere when he gets some pace to run at.

Did you think it was a good ride? Do you think the guy did a smart thing by rushing his horse to the lead so he can be pinned in the 1 path having a no hoper press him the entire mile and an 8th?

I wouldn't call 24.88 and 50.06 any kind of rush to the lead..

He got pinned in turning for home because he was empty.
Absolutely perfect ride for a horse who had shown he can win on the engine in slow fractions already. He was empty today.
Best of Luck

He was empty because he was ridden poorly, no need to ride like that in a 5 horse field when you're the best horse on paper.

Yup that blistering pace did him in......
5 horse field how dare he take the lead. Hope he learns to rate off fast paces from now on.
Best of Luck

He stopped in the stretch, if the pace was slow, he would have kept going, no?

I didn't see the race but the horse in lead (or the horse beside the leader) is always parting the air for the trailers to slipstream in until the stretch run. This might be why he stopped even after slow fractions. Just a thought.

The horse let us all down. A lot of people like that horse. We should all clean up on the 3 when there is some pace in front of him. He is OK.

That's exactly what happened. The guy niggled to the horse out of the gate, he asked him to run and you don't see that with quality horses in long turf races, the jocks let them break and settle. If this horse was full of run and dragged the guy to the lead, that's one thing, but he was shoving the horse out of the gate and riding aggressively to get the lead so he can be pinned down on the fence with a hopeless longshot pressing him all the way. Now,i know that he didnt plan on getting his horse in a duel along the inside with a no hoper pressing him, but there was no need to rush to the lead like that and put yourself in that position.

Overbet and certainly no lock. Now they may know he may be better running at horses and not taking the lead...Only one way to find that out. Either he needs to run at horses in the future, or just maybe he is not that good. In any event, I doubt he will be on the lead in his next race.

The ride didn't bother me.
The field was short, the pace was slow....
Mr Speaker wasn't going to let Lezcano grab a hold.
And he didn't have horse at the pole.
Mr Speaker just didn't have it today.

Looked to me like the horse wanted to run. Especially considering the fractions, he should have been up by 4-5L at the top of the stretch. Looked like a horse taken out of his game to me. Strangling him back looks to have left his race in the reins.
