Emerald Down's 9th - 4 horse field with tri and super and same trainer on 3 of them

Was just flipping thru the races and saw this 4 horse race.(no scratches) Same trainer (Tom Wenzel) for the , and . It was the Boeing Handicap for $50K purse. The 1st 3 finishers were from the same trainer. So he gets most of the $50K purse. And they actually had tri AND super wagering in a 4 horse field. Seems rather odd. I never saw this before. Anyone else?

The $1 super paid $2.55. I can't believe they couldn't get another horse or two in the race. The trainer must've seen $$ signs before the race even started.

But I don't understand how the conditions stated that 2nd place gets $27,500 and 3rd gets $7,500 and 4th gets $3,750 and $1,250 to 5th place. So how much does the winner get? Am I missing something or is there an error in the conditions?

It probably ran together, and you read first place's prize as belonging to second. From the charts:
1st: $27,500
2nd: $10,000
3rd: $7,500
4th: $3,750
The fifth place prize of $1,250 wasn't paid for obvious reasons.

May be right with it all running together as an error. So Tom Wenzel gets $45k of a $50K purse for his 3 horses coming in the money, nice. But why would they even offer tri and super wagers in a 4 horse race? Strange. The payoffs barely paid for the wagers.
