I don't care how long it's been...the chance to hear Durkin call one more race is amazing...he was the BEST EVER race caller in modern racing history.
Period.

Completely agree with your thoughts on Durkin. Hands down the best race-caller I've listened to. I will tune in if for no other reason, to hear Durkin call the race.

Nice move. I don't know why NYRA didn't keep him on at the SPA for at least one day a week, after he retired. Maybe "Durkin Wednesdays."
He has a house there and spends the summer there, I believe.

You don't know why? Because he retired.

Well that is a reason for not keeping him on.

Undoubtedly on the short list, and one can argue the greatest race-caller of all time.
Hasn't called a race since 2014 though. That is a long time to be away. Thought he was older, but he is only 72.
His 2001 BC Classic call for Tiznow still brings about goosebumps.

I can't wait to hear him again. Is his vision good?

It’s been great to hear him. He’s done a good job considering the long time away. His Met Mile call was the only one that wasn’t good so far

Yes, that wasn’t the best either. He said Cody’s wish was toiling in last (he always runs this way) and seconds later he proceeded to pass the field like the were still.
He probably needs to call a few more races before the main day to get back into it. It’d be nice if he did Travers day.

He was toiling in the back of the pack. Tom wasn't wrong.

He was good...his voice wasn't as strong...but his calls were good...
And those saying his Belmont was bad...how could you tell?
Most of the way down the stretch, the crowd noise was drowning him out...I couldn't hear him at all
