Mage also had one of Stanley Caris designated conduit mares, Remembrance, in tail female. I had this one pretty high on the point checklist but didn't pull the trigger. Wasn't sold on 2Phils anyway. As the previous poster noted, the trifecta was nothing to sneeze at but nothing that couldn't be fetched in a full field on many race days. Basically one I'm not beating myself over. A person could have bagged a couple of $120 trifectas at Belmont Sunday afternoon that each had two ML types without the big spreading many of us do in the Derby.

I’m just not seeing it. If the Buckpasser trait came through rocking boat, how does the Y-Chromosome pass along? It’s all XX until it gets to Big Brown, but his Y comes through his lineage.

I know it’s frustrating. The only way I can see this is if the Buckpasser trait comes from the bottom part of the pedigree, then it doesn’t matter from where, as long as it passes through the Dams side anywhere along the lines. Perhaps, I was being too precise on page 51.

You have to go six generations back. Puca => Boat's Ghost => Rocktheboat => Summer Squall => Weekend Surprise => Lassie Dear => Buckpasser

It's my understanding of the hypothesis that the genetics can only be passed down from daughters of Buckpasser, and not through two colts in succession.
