Oops, computer crash at IRS. Sorry about that

Oh, no! Lois Lerner's computer crashed and wiped out all of her emails.

What a coincidence!

I think if I remember this fable correctly from when I read it... it actually only wiped out the ones that could really reflect poorly on the executive branch and the DNC. Only the juicy ones...

The story is that any emails to or from other people within the IRS can be retrieved from the computers of those other people. Emails to or from those outside the IRS can't be found.

This means that the IRS email servers do not keep copies of employee emails. How thoughtful of them.

It does raise the question about why it took the IRS over a year to figure out that there had been a crash. They must have been busy with more pressing issues.

that a computer crash caused them to lose 2 years of her emails is less believable than "the dog ate my homework".

Is it more or less believable than that it took them over a year to realize that it had happened?

Like nobody who post here has never had their computer crash and lost a bunch of their stuff. Yeah, right! Sure is funny when it happens to somebody else, isn't it?
