"Come on G FIVE!!!"
"Yes Yes YES"
*slaps rolled-up form*
"COME ON G FIVE!!!!!!"
"Yes YESSSSSS! YESSSSS!"
"YESS??? WHAT!?!?! WTFOMG?? I CAN'T TAKE IT ANYMORE!!"

Maybe his problem is that too many people are cutting him slack. He isn't worried about losing his job, so, why does it matter if he's good or not?

What about the argument that if you can't do it better, you shouldn't criticize?

If i spent my entire life trying to perfect the art of announcing horse races and i wasn't as good, i would be much more likely to not say a word.

Not sure what this has to do with announcing...or my base of knowledge in the horse racing arena. I might not know much about anything, but at least im not like you and Vic crying like little school girls because a fellow announcer was called out for being terrible. Maybe you can fly to Tampa and teach Grunder how to call out names correctly instead of "fixing posts" on message boards.

I guess I should just let it go, but I love horse racing and wish it was more professional. Having a guy like this call races really drives me insane. All announcers blow calls. They wouldn't be human if they didn't.

But for a guy to just constantly blow calls and butcher names is reprehensible. It screams of lack of preparation, or even caring. It was the same way with media types that didn't bother to learn how to pronounce the name of the eventual Breeders' Cup Classic winner. Here is a top horse in the sport and apparently a large number of those reporting on it couldn't be bothered to learn the correct pronunciation, and that includes some announcers as well.

I know Jason and some others think I'm picking on the guy, and I guess I am in a way, but I find his lack of professionalism insulting. It is an insult to the sport as a whole. If I constantly made horrendous speed figures that I passed onto customers I'd expect to be called on it. I'm sick of incompetence being ignored in horse racing.

The mispronunciations are most likely deliberate and part of his shtick. He is revered by management.

Well I like Grunder's tone and style which is why I think others may like him. But he does butcher calls and it does seem like a guy who put a little more prep in wouldn't do that. But if I was him I'd feel pretty bad that a thread focused on how lousy I was ran 56 pages. If he read it that is, which I doubt. It's kinda like beating a dead horse at this point, excuse the analogy.
