So I really respect those who serve and have served, I sometimes feel bad if everything is not perfectly comfortable and I don't walk up to every person in uniform at my local supermarket and say something. I often like to add something that on a norm would not get into a thread, being very fond of our WW !! vets Jimmy Doolittle, USAFR, getting his fourth star is for those who might enjoy.

Yes, the Mess Hall. Drop a Plate or Glass...Mess Sergeant brings out the Broom, Dustpan, and Mop...to YOU. They didn't make the mess...they ain't cleaning it up.

I loved the military cooks. I think the Navy had the best, at least for breakfast. Omelets that were a work of art

Army. I'm 52 and it seems like the prior service people in my generation just kind of exit the military and move on. All my older relatives who served would always wear navy ship hats or some type of served in theatre hats. Not saying it is good or bad but it just seems like there was a time from Vietnam to the twin towers when military service wasn't really celebrated. I feel a little awkward having to stand up at some event when they call all veterans to stand. I tell my wife it's always me and 25 eighty year olds.
