So, by default, Hawthorne is now the face of Chicago racing. That is an ugly face. I spent many afternoons at AP during the 90s. A beautiful track and some big time racing. Good bye old friend.
Boy was I wrong! The Bears buy AP! The times they are a changing. I wonder how those with seat licenses feel? A new stadium seems to be in the books. A new coach and GM would be preferred.
Almost everyone new to the game I had ever taken up there the first time became totally immersed in it and wanted to learn more, with most becoming a fan to some degree for life.
Obviously the facility had almost everything to do with that so its a real shame.
Like Thaskalos mentioned earlier even the train ride was part of the experience if you were going up there that way.
