Hah! Not surprised. After all, this is the Land of Sunshine (and other things too like monstrous blood-sucking 'squitos , huge pythons and ever-hungry 'gators0 -- but it's still all good down here in Swampland. So, I say to all those unemployed ex-fuzz, c'mon down, the weather is fine!

Think about it. You’ve been a cop in Minnesota in those winters.

Now you can go to Florida (where you probably wanted to retire to)

With a small bonus, and probably a short police academy class on Florida laws and you’re in…….

I can see that ……being a serious option to consider.

Absolutely! Very attractive offer. That money should pay most or all moving charges, too.

Always a big deal

My brother is 5-7 years from retirement from his public sector job.

He works for the water Dept in Ohio.

He is already planning ahead. First on his list is a no state tax state. He says 8% more a month is well worth it.

I tried to to to talk him into Texas. But he says real estate taxes are too high and the deer are too small.

He is big on hunting and fishing and motorcycle riding. I think he’s going to end up in Tennessee

3 months of heat with humidity a year is enough for me. I went to Disney World in late April a couple years ago and it was already getting steamy.

No, it's not; not for me, at least. Believe it or not, for many years July/August has been my favorite time to go down to Sarasota. I love the 84/86° Gulf-water temperatures, especially, and the beautiful beaches (white, cool quartz at Siesta Key)...can't go swimming during the winter months, even in FL. Anyway, everything is air-conditioned, so the heat is really no big deal. I would have no qualms about moving down there permanently.
