Grin and bear it, I guess.

To me, Harrison is one of those guys who was saved by football. Without it he would be serving a long prison sentence for stuff like menacing, home invasion, ADW, you name it....
Sadly though, in today's NFL i firmly believe you need a few guys on your D who are all about the violence, the brutality, the intimidation.
The way Pitt and Balt play football you just gotta have guys like that.
By this logic do we award this guy with D player of the year? I guess being a stereotype means alot these days? Hell, Clay Mathews don't stand a chance by these standards. Ok, now it's time for somebody to remind me that it's all about the game. What was I thinking?

Say what?
I was merely pointing out that I think Harrison is a blockhead, even though he's a fantastic football player, and that guys like him are necessary.

When it comes to sports and our favorite teams, most of us view these guys as robots on the field. We can pretend we care about them personally and blah blah blah...but all we really want them to do is behave when not on the field so they don't go to jail or get suspended by Lord Roger...PERIOD. Aside from our very favorite players I doubt many of us care too much about their off field lives and what they do after they retire from the NFL.

From the Flacco thread:

" but Casino says Flacco can't take them to the SB. Oh wait, he could still be pissed about that last drive Joe the QB took down the field in Pitsberg to win with 8 seconds left on a brilliant pass to Torrey Smith "!!

Most of us do care about what they do off field considering the amount of money they are getting paid to provide us entertainment. It's a sad state of affairs when thug type athletes are publicly rewarded for doing a job they are getting paid handsomely to do. What does it say as a society, and the message it sends our kids? Many would be humbled to get paid like this, and have several months off every year as well....

Again...say what?
You care about an athletes' off field exploits because he makes a lot of money to entertain you?
He isn't getting paid to entertain anyone. People are entetained when someone plays/does their job exceptionally well.
Drew Brees is far more enteratining than Blaine Gabbert, but neither is being paid to do so.

The fact that America is wild about football and mezmerizingly entertained by a sometimes brutal sport is our problem; not the players'.
