They aren't debating because there isn't anything to debate... that's what happened.
Because of whatever weird loyalty, personal pride/investment, or partisanship they give those actions a pass and their seal of approval.
Deep down though they don't like it which is why they can't/won't hear it and seek to change the subject.

OMG! That video, that anyone with half a brain knew was a JOKE, is STILL being cited as some kind of evidence????
I thought anyone who bought into that had either wandered off and were never heard from again, or had been committed for their own safety.

You left out the fact that according to fearless leader, there's not only nothing wrong with any of this but he will do it again in the next election if he gets the chance. Oh, and the FBI is wrong for considering any of this reportable to them, because everyone does it.
The ABC interview today was about as close to an "A Few Good Men" moment as we're likely to get.
