For Those Using Bris Prime Power Figures?

When a race comes (OFF) the turf, do you ignore the figures? Do they have any value for OFF the turf?

I may be wrong, but I do not think the figures take into account today's distance or surface. Nor do they reflect whether the horse is in form or coming off a long layoff.

DeltaLover's figures suggest you are correct.

I am skeptical of figures earned in off-the-turf races.

Delta Lover, I assume the stats above reflect how the top prime power horse runs in a race that is off the turf? If so those are looking at a different group of horses than those whose previous race was an off-the-turf race. The latter are the ones I tend to discount figures for.

Yes. It applies to the top figure only. As you can see, the OT top prime power are having a higher winning percentage and a higher ROI as well.

The higher the win % in off turf races makes sense, as the fields are usually much smaller as the turf specialists scratch out.

Obviously.

What is more interesting though, is the higher ROI for the OT races..

Believe or not that this professional data warehouse builder for Fortune 500 companies uses spreadsheets for now. Once, and if, the rewrite of the handicapping application is finished then comes the database.

Spreadsheets are great when used for what they are most suitable for and the same applies to databases, NoSql, csv etc.

One needs to create data to study before analyzing it. That's where all the confusion comes in.

No doubt that we need data before we can analyse it!

Still, why we do use the proper technologies from day one?

Here you can see a more detailed comparison of the bris prime power for off versus turf races. As you can see the accuracy of the figure is the same in both cases.
