This type of play could represent 10 to 15 percent of the database with no wins. If true it will give a huge benefit when eliminated.

the total columns play in 480 races is $192,000
the $1 return is $0.90. that play won 48% of the time.
In the following example the 7/3 exacta wins. the $1 track exacta return is $20.50
the column bet size (3 under 7 ) is $34
the matrix bet size $78.
the column return is ($34 x $20.50)/$400 = $174
the BOXED matrix return is ($78 x $20.50)/(220x2) = $363
363/174 = 2.08 advantage matrix return over column return
I reviewed 33 random database races. under the same conditions, the advantage was $1.26
in that review, the col bets returned $084 on the dollar
the matrix $1.29

5/1 exacta track $1 exacta returned $29.40
my 4 column plays had a $1 return of $1.30, the matrix $1.66 a 1.27 advantage.

the column 2 plays again proves very profitable. $1 return was $1.29
the column 2 plays returned $0.98 on the dollar
