There should be a standing rule that anyone mentioning a race caller link a YouTube video to one of their calls. I will often recognize a voice but forgot their name.

"great" is overused but absolutely applies here as mr lederman was a true artist on those calls.

Thanks, I recognize the voice, probably heard it down in TJ if he called Atlantic City back in the day. Did he switch to harness cause that is what Googling hit before I watched the video you posted.

What year was that? I bet Garden State a lot when I lived in San Clemente Ca in the early 90's, when I headed 90 miles south to Tijuana a lot. I first bet a quarter horse in 1975 (14 years old, step dad was a bad influence )
1979 I discovered TB and harness on my own.

Larry called races at Garden State Park (harness) among other appearances.

I only attended Atlantic City Race Course during the late April all-turf meetings before it finally closed. The low vertical reach of that grandstand with its very deep seating were unique. The vertical climb from the first floor to the outside tarmac will always stay with me (if you climbed it, you remember).

Watching this video brought back just how beautiful that turf course was. Years of neglect took its toll on the plant, but that turf course always played true.

I was fortunate to have been Larry's close friend for over 50 years. He always kept me laughing. Most people don't know what a generous man he was. Just a sad day for his many friends and his brother, and for all those who were lucky to have crossed paths with the great LL.
