Look, in 1972 the Democratic Party changed its rules, making it much easier for Blacks, students and women to be elected as delegates. To this day, Democrats enjoy the support of Blacks, students and women. This triggered many Democrats to leave the party, a trend that eventually became the Reagan Democrat movement in which Southern states became a bastion of Republicans.
