The U.K.’s Coronavirus ‘Herd Immunity’ Debacle
https://www.theatlantic.com/health/a...ohnson/608065/

But on Thursday, at a press conference, Boris Johnson seemingly revealed that the United Kingdom would adopt a different strategy. The government would no longer try to track and trace the contacts of every suspected case, and it would test only people who are admitted to hospitals. In lieu of any major social-distancing measures, Johnson instead offered a suite of soft advice—people with symptoms should stay home; no school trips abroad; people over 70 should avoid cruises.

...“People have misinterpreted the phrase herd immunity as meaning that we’re going to have an epidemic to get people infected,” says Graham Medley at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. Medley chairs a group of scientists who model the spread of infectious diseases and advise the government on pandemic responses. He says that the actual goal is the same as that of other countries: flatten the curve by staggering the onset of infections. As a consequence, the nation may achieve herd immunity; it’s a side effect, not an aim.

Indeed, yesterday, U.K. Health Secretary Matt Hancock stated, “Herd immunity is not our goal or policy.” The government’s actual coronavirus action plan, available online, doesn’t mention herd immunity at all. “The messaging has been really confusing, and I think that was really unfortunate,” says Petra Klepac, who is also an infectious-disease modeler at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. “It’s been a case of how not to communicate during an outbreak,” says Devi Sridhar, a public-health specialist at the University of Edinburgh.

Anyone find this interesting?

In public, I don't think he's ever come close to saying something like the above.

So glad we've destroyed our economy (temporarily?) over the above assessment by DOC FAUCI in the New England Journal of Medicine.
Old news...I posted this IDEA way before any doctor came out with it and before anyone else....oh wait...I'm not paid and don't have agenda....but I do have half a brain...albeit...low iq sometimes...

That Dr. Fauci has a Napoleonic complex.

Vaccine success rates.

2019 - 29%
2018 - 38%
2017 - 40%
2016 - 48%
2015 - 19%

Hardly the cure-all they promise.

Use the drug that works NOW. Trump will push this right up the good doctors you know what this week.

Fauci is a fool!!!

Fauci is in it for the pharmaceutical $$$$$ most respectable people in the medical fields abhor him.

This illness is likely a bio-weapon and not being treated properly.

Ventilators are not saving lives they are only prolonging the inevitable.

January 22 2020 - WHO Director-General praises China's handling of the outbreak.

January 24 - Second U.S. case in Chicago, within 2 days cases reported in LA, Orange County and Arizona.

January 25 2020 - Chinese New Year - Year of the Rat.

January 31 2029 - President Trump imposes China travel restrictions.

Your President reacted very quickly considering the lies told by China and the WHO.

Brought to you by China's Year of the Rat.

Yes and he said we have to prepared also.

“We've just got to make sure that we are totally prepared," Fauci said, per the report. "Infectious diseases will continue to emerge on the human species. And we've got to be essentially perpetually prepared."

Obviously he was wrong about low impact on the United States.

But was he wrong about being prepared?

This ridiculous RUSH to accept the anti-malarial drug just mirrors how many proponents know NEXT TO NOTHING about standard clinical trials and the lessons of the LAW of large numbers (Bernoulli).

https://www.france24.com/en/20200331...rus-treatments

quote: Combining hydroxychloroquine with the antibiotic azithromycin has been in the spotlight since Raoult published two studies that he said showed the treatment's effectiveness against COVID-19.

The treatment needs "particular attention", Martin said, because combining hydroxychloroquine with the antibiotic azithromycin, as in the Marseille trial, could cause arrhythmia and lead to a heart attack.

This was "even more the case with patients suffering from COVID-19" because of metabolic problems associated with the disease, he said.

ONLY large scale testing and double blind observation OVER TIME can denote a drug both safe and effective..

this - according to Wikipedia as of today:

21% of cases worldwide have recovered
5% cases in the U.S. have recovered
9% in New York have recovered

I'm assuming they're referring to the entire state not just NYC which is much worse than the rest of the state

5.4% have died from it worldwide
2.7% in the U.S. have died from it
3.1% in New York have died from it

You're on a respirator showing very little or no signs of improvement...what would YOU do, 46zilzal? Would you care about the possible side effects of a drug that may help you?

Lets wait to see in retrospect what the true numbers are, lets wait for years to have drug trials for potential cures. But in the meantime:

https://nypost.com/2020/04/05/stephe...at-depression/

Economist Stephen Moore warned that the US is barrelling headlong toward a Great Depression if the economy isn’t revived by next month because of the damage caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
“At some point soon, we’re going to have to make some real decisions about what kind of a calamity we are causing through the lock-down of our economy. I’m not saying we should be inattentive to the public health concern…But at some point, we have to worry about what we’re doing to our society, and what kind of economy we’re going to have after this is all over,” Moore, who has advised President Trump on the economy, told host John Catsimatidis on his AM-970 radio show “The Cats Roundtable” in an interview that aired Sunday.

Regularly used pain killers Ibuprofin and Naproxen have possible side effects that include Heart Attack.
Azithromycin & Hydroxychloroquine have possible side effects similar to many over the counter drugs.
