Biggest racetrack hexes

Todd and Simon talking about their biggest Jinxes at the track. Todd is 0 for 834 when a baby cries and he hears it before his bet is set to compete.

Gwen Stefani also is a jinx for Todd.

Todd loses 93% of the time when he gets a 50 dollar bill at the track.

What's YOUR biggest "Jinx" ?

There is a certain guy at Tampa Bay Downs who always seems to have a horse in position in the strech but never seems to wins and swears and grumbles after EVERY race. I dont know how he has any $$ left. My dad and I would always move if he came within a certain vicinity because it was "poison" and was contageous. Miss you Dad.

Trying to play the horses near a guy like that is akin to getting behind a group of hackers on the golf course...they basically "mind f**k" you into playing just like them because you are forced to sit and observe it.

Contagious is a good word for it.

jinxe

my BIGGEST jinx is,while watching my race on the computer, I had better not look at the bottom of the screen to see the numbers and positions of the horses in the race, I think I loose every one

Invoking prayer is an immediate way to trash a ticket...when I played otb I didn't touch my ticket...thinking "you got this" also spells doom...playing when your upset is a guaranteed losing day

My biggest jinx is if i bet a horse that 'nobody should be rooting for' (i.e 10-1 or higher) and the horse is making a nice move at the top of the lane and some idiot starts rooting for that horse. A "square" bettor rooting for a good looking longshot selection is the kiss of death for sure.

Trying to "pad" your bankroll just before a big raceday will always mean losing your roll and being screwed the next day

scratching into the favorite never ends well

if an announcer provides some awesome stat prerace ("horse is riding a 10 race streak") your instantly screwed and the 10 race winner will lose by 50

So true. I bet Zenyatta just one race, guess which one? The announcer was going on about her racing career and win stats etc, and I had a funny feeling today might be the day she loses. I bragged to my son about her and to watch the race on TV with me, and she lost her 20th race. Shoulda knew better from listening to the kiss of death from the announcer. I got the feeling that if i didn't hear him bragging, she would have won.

And yes, never say "This one's in the bag" when the horse has a nice lead at the top of the stretch. Or even when another bettor mentions it. That is the kiss of death and jinxes it for me. Something negative always seems to happen in the stretch. Better to wait until the horse is just about crossing the wire before thinking you got the winner.

I don't believe in jinxes really. However, I have noticed that if I bet a Gray
horse another gray wins a lot of times???? I always prefer I am on the
"only" gray in the race when I bet one. When they card a race for grays only---I sit and watch only. I figure I have no chance of finding the winner!

Heres one that ALWAYS gets me. Wheeling a nice priced winner in a double, and leaving out that one hopeless longshot and then theres that voice thats says why not put in a small win bet, just in case. And you dont because even you could run around the track and beat him. Listen to that voice folks, its cost me a fortune!

The teller saying "thank you" when I am making bet. My Dad would come unglued when that happen. I just tell them it is bad luck, then watch the race and then tear up the ticket and curse the stupid teller.

lol, tampa your story reminded me of a guy that used to always be at a certain track i'd frequent. for some reason he'd always be lined up directly under the tv his race was on, leaning his neck and upper body back so he could look up at the screen to watch the race. strange.

known as "the Delaware monkey f***er" over a period of months I must have watched the guy lose an amazing 100+ races in a row. of course it should go without saying that if the dmf had your horse.... the ship was sunk.

I have lost money the last 358 times that I have gone to the track wearing briefs instead of boxers as underwear.

I still can't believe that I didn't learn my lesson sooner...

This reminds me of another guy at tampa bay downs, big guy kinda tall and like 300 lbs. Whenever it was coming down the stretch hed sit under the tv and roll the program like a whip and literally bouncel ike he was on a pony and whip the program on his side and yell. Maybe he wanted to be a jockey when he was younger who knows lol
