How does rain affect Hollywood Park synthetic?

I'm going to guess it will help the speed horses. What do you think?

You got me looking around, LWM. Although the article below 'is' pretty old and I believe HP has undergone quite a bit of resurfacing, it appears you are correct.

Interestingly, rain seems to have some effect on the Cushion Track surface. Hollywood Park appeared to favor speed much more on wet days than it did at all other times.

Hollywood Park CushionTrack Fall ’06-present Closers do better than in thepast, but not as good as onPolytrack. Rain helps speed.

*sigh* I'm supposed to be packing to move. I think I may be handicapping in the morning instead.

I'd say you have your priorities in order!

washing the track away...

... down Century and taking LAX out to The Pacific ... read the science-fiction treatment ...

The sad truth is we need less racing. Hollywood Park was ripe for pickin'.

I never made close to as much at any track as I did at HollyPark. I was there at the first Breeder's Cup, and subsequent Cups ... and have countless stories of the confines.

... and I say farewell ... the sport will be better without you. Which is why Churchill Downs sold the property.
