10th@Mountaineer ~ 10:45PM/et

10th@Mountaineer~ 6F F&M Clm5000N2L ~ purse $8,400 ~ 9/3/13
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Two in field drop to $5K Tag for 1st time,& lone Kentucky invader
private purchase by lethal 'claim for condition' connections. Two 3YO's
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-
1) Maybry's Gold (15/1)~ 4YO was very fast early back in spring,
but form has regressed,& 6F may be too far.Picks up aggressive Oliveros.
2) Masteringthestorm (15/1)~ Turf-2-Dirt for 3YO that was 33/1
two back at this level. Tab for later in meet.
3) Smiling Place (20/1)~ Oh-for-11 in 2013, with one 4th. Pass.
4) Kalissa (3/1 ML Fave)~ 4YO closed into quick splits last out,&
has solid 2013 form. June races would likely bury these. One to beat.
5) Crafty Vicki (9/2)~ Just behind ML Fave last out, deep closer
hurt by lack of early speed. Must-Use Tri/Super, too slow for Win?
6) May Mandate (6/1)~ 5YO drops to lowest tag ever looking for
proper level. If Mandate has any ability, she May show it here.
7) Goldwrapinsilver (4/1)~ 7YO mare's last Win? 6F on Turf, in
Sept.2008! Layoffs from 12/09-4/11, & 4/12-6/13. Total Toss if
NOT a private purchase by Bart Baird,a master of claim & win.
8) Bird Of Honor (8/1)~ Route-2-Sprint for 5YO that looked good
beating slow foes two back. Love Cutbacks, but Tri/Super BCS here.
9) Mello Kisses (5/1)~ The Other 3YO in field, drops to $5K tag
for 1st time off claim for $7,500,DNF on Turf vs.tougher.Win or OTB?
10) Sauce Cat (12/1)~ 6YO rolled in Mud in local debut @8F,just
missed in Mud 4 back @6F. Cat & Jeff doing Rain-Dance in Barn?
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
EARLY LOOK: Let's eliminate runners that on paper are "Too-Slow".
Take out 1-2-3-5-8-10. #7 is too-slow on form, but 1st-time locally.
#'s 6&9 are 'fuzzies' on the drop: dangerous, but could be 1st OR last.
That leaves ML fave #4, who's not the quickest early, OR the best
closer in field, but can get good trip & is best proven local commodity.
Watch DD Will-Pays in 9th into 10th for clues on 'liveness' of 6-7-9.
Good Luck to All, & See You at Night School!

9th@Mountaineer ~ 10:20PM/et

9th@Mountaineer: 8F Alw37100NC ~ purse $37,100 ~ 9/3/13
(Wide Open No Condition Allowance... Anyone Can Enter)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Odd race for condition in that only 3 of 7 in field have Won at a Mile.
Two stretchout sprinters should ensure solid early pace. One New Face.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1) Mega Rush (9/2 ML)~ 11/60 Lifetime, Rush is oh-for-5 in 2013.
7YO most familiar with NC level, but may be better sprinting overall.
2) Fifth Street (5/2 ML Fave)~ New Face in great from, Best body
of Beyers,& excellent stalking gear. So Why do i feel 5th is vulnerable?
3) Matty's Avenger (10/1)~ 4YO stretches out 440Y off N4L Win,
sire's offspring been OK at distance, but Dam's offspring 0/42 routing.
4) Gold For Cash (7/2)~ 5YO tries 2 turns, adds 550Y in 29th start.
Won EZ July 8th vs. 3&5, but backers will hold breath in stretch run.
5) Black Circle (8/1)~ Closing 2nd in July 8th race, 5YO should be in
good 2nd-flight spot if speed duel develops, getting 1st run of closers.
6) Fair Dinkum (8/1)~ 4YO claimed for $40K in June @CD,& in July
Re-Claimed by former connections for $20K... @DelMar! All 3 Wins
routing locally, 3 works mean likely Guns for Lead. Not impossible.
7) More Than Noble (3/1)~ Top Jock Pilares draws poorly, so
expect him to break slow, drop over to rail early, as doubtful 5YO
could try April 20 Gambit of Gunning from #7 post w/speed signed up.
Underlay @ML Odds & post position.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
EARLY LOOK: WOW! What a head-scratcher! Brisnet "E-EP-P-S"
pace figs have Mega Rush speed of Speed, with Matty closing mid-pack,
More Than Noble Flying Late.

http://www.twinspires.com/php/turfst...ort=track-bias
i'll go with the Former Class, #1, & Best Recent Figs, #2, in Horizontals.
Good Luck to All!

I would play the to the in Mountaineer's late double.

Tonight I'd be hanging my handy cap on the positive jockey/trainer history of the contenders /
