$5 Exacta, 1 with 1A ???????

A friend was asking me if I recall a track(s) that ever used both parts of the entry as separate wagering choices for the Exacta, i.e, 1 with 1A.

Nowadays if the order of finish is 1-1A-2-3, the exacta counts as 1-2.

He seems to think it was at Woodbine a few years back that the Payoff for that finish was 1-1A.

Not sure how you would make that wager, but does anyone recall that ever being the case at any track?

Really? No idea how you could have such a thing UNLESS you made 1/1A 1A/1 part of the betting menu. Theoretically, could be done.

Maybe they should do it . Chad Brown might like it .

Love to see a chart of that.

The French racing PMU (parimutuel) does this with exotic. Horses are coupled for win betting only but exotics are not coupled, so there you might see a "7A" and "9A" coupled for Win and Place.

This was discussed on HRRN on Thursday December 14th. Canada did have tickets that printed 1 and 1a on the tote ticket but it was the nomenclature of their tote system not an exacta. This is the explanation provided on the show.

You could select an entry for both 1st and 2nd, it didn't distinguish between the runners within the entry.

See this paying on 1-1.

Years ago , horses that were trained and/or owned by the same person

.....WERE COUPLED.....

Now they aren't most of the time ....and you get all the shenanigan's that go

with it...

Another great decision !!!

Thanks for this. Even on HRRN they were not sure that your outcome was not a possibility and this is interesting.

We didn't need no stinkin' betting menu, we went up to the teller and said gimme a one one exactor five times.
