Information?, Time?, Money?, Fear/?...
all these things are valuable. There is no 'most valuable commodity'
if I were to choose one I liked or possible 'favorite' commodity??
I would choose '
insight'
it's kinda like Gekko and his information.
I know you love my quotes. This is a quote I like on the subject;
"But
on a true philosophy there is no other umpire than virtue and insight; for there is no luck or ill-luck except wisdom and the reverse."
-Baltasar Gracián
'virtue' is elusive as far as the sense of a 'commodity'. It's more a 'quality' than a commodity. The cardinal virtues are part of the first degree of learning, and they contain a ton of wisdom. They aren't taught and stressed enough.
(cardinal virtues jason merlin kassa first degree notes)
PRUDENCE- Choose wisely = Prudence = good judgement = knowing the extent of your competence = waiting for a good opportunity in your circle of competence = Reasoning by way of your Insight = understanding of timing enjoy everything at its ripest...
JUSTICE - Take your slice = Justice = fair&reasonable = balancing greed and fear = the moderation or mean between selfishness and selflessness = risk management.
TEMPERANCE - Stay on your path to success = Temperance = moderation or voluntary self-restraint = rational behavior = do not trade short-term rewards(short-term negative impulses) for long-term progress towards your goals = guiding your State along a plateau close to your peak state
FORTITUDE - Always be bigger than your task = Valour = the choice and willingness to confront agony, pain, danger, uncertainty, or intimidation = never be overwhelmed to the point that your Insight and your Virtues are affected.
but as epic as the cardinal virutes and the concept of virtues are, it's more about character or a set of qualities that a human strives for.
I would teach someone the lesson on virtue but no one would pay minimum wage for some disabled eccentric to teach them or their children wisdom beyond their appreciation.
I would like to stay on task here with "INSIGHT" as the featured 'commodity' of this post. You could say that 'Temperence' is needed to say "enough is a enough!". The focus is going to be on the stream of thought involving these various quotes 'x is the most valuable commodity'. Insight is a personal favorite, and is worthy of discussion. If not discussion at least to be published in a thread on 'quotes'.
Going to stay on that path. Focusing on Insight to close this commentary.
There's a fucking interesting intellectual pretentious perspective to be discussed on Virtue truly acting as a commodity. - Clown world we live in uses Virtue and the easy set ups (softballs lobbed down the middle in order to trigger/guide would-be virtue signalers) to Virtue Signal. Virtue Signaling can be used to elicit various emotional appeals, but can be broader as the important psychological use is to show the ingroup and the herd how GOOD we are and how much we want to bond with the ingroup.
