after a funeral i have a rare afternoon off. it's a beautiful day but instead of going outside for some fresh air and a nice walk, i lazily plop down in front of you tube for a pair of 70s classics!
every which way but loose: movie foretells the california days of 2022 pa poster of the year
inner dirt. clint eastwood stars as philo beddoe, a local bare knuckle champion who has complete control of his world, save for one weakness: women. in a funny scene (abt 13-15 min in), mr beddoe attempts to pick up a liberal usc sociology student in a country bar while mel tillis belts out "send me down to tucson." he fails but later seems to have more success with an aspiring country singer named lynn halsey-taylor. when ms taylor suddenly takes off, a befuddled beddoe takes to the road to pursue her. in an era lacking the easily accessible wisdom of the pa forums, mr beddoe is forced to discuss his plight with a pet orangutan (12 ribs) named clyde. the duo doesn't come up with too many answers though, ultimately concluding that "you just keep howling until sometime they howl back."
the chase finally ends in denver, co. miss taylor breaks beddoe's heart but there's still one final bare knuckle fight vs a legendary pugilist named tank murdock. a past his prime murdock scoops a poker pot with aces full of nines as beddoe ('dirt) laces up some vintage pumas for this epic showdown....
one on one: highly underrated college basketball movie imo. robby benson stars as henry steele, a colorado high school star who holds out for a scholarship at national power western university (ucla?). the movie has
north dallas forty vibes with gd spradlin playing evil head coach moreland smith. steele is slow to adapt to the college sports lifestyle but unlike north dallas forty's phil elliott character he never becomes disillusioned with the game and with the help of a beautiful tutor (annette o'toole) he begins to develop into a true student athlete with coach smith's ire only strengthening his resolve!!
