Santa Anita **TRACK PHANTOM**

12-26-14

R9 MSW - 56,000 - 1M - TURF (4:23 PT)

9 INDIAN PRINCESS 6-1 Gryder Puype

1 RUE DE CRY 12-1 Talamo Gaines
7 FOOLISH WAYS 3-1 Bejarano Harty
8 PAULINA’S LOVE 7-2 Stevens Paparodrm

9 INDIAN PRINCESS
Exits a key race where 4th, 5th and 8th all came back to win maiden races at LRC next out. The runner-up came back to run 2nd. The winner was a Mullins 1ster that won well. Bred well for turf Dam was 2 for 4 on turf and her sib, Belleski, won 8 of 12 on turf for 361k. Puype good turfing in 1st route MSW.

1 RUE DE CRY
Considered this filly for the top spot based on the 24% win rate Gaines has with 2nd timers going long on the grass. Clockers indicated she looked good in her recent works. Talamo stays up. Turf may have been the goal all along.

R6 EDDIE LOGAN - 75,000 - 1M - TURF (3:04 PT)

11 BOLO 4-1 Smith Gaines

3 DADDY D T 7-2 Nakatani Sadler
10 RED BUTTON 6-1 Perez Glatt
1 WILLING TO TRAVEL 12-1 Bejarano Hollndorfer

11 BOLO
Really like the way he pressed a fast pace, got no breathers throughout and kicked away in the lane to win in his second start. Gaines is 4 for 9 (44%) w/ 3 just miss seconds (78% in top 2) with a maiden winner into a stakes next out. Clockers been really impressed with him in the AM. Something here.

3 DADDY D T
Both turf efforts have been exceptional. He won in his second start and first on the grass when he rallied late to get up. Caught a strong field in the G1 Front Runner (3rd won BC Juv). Nakatani back up for 3rd in BC Juv Turf in last.

R6 CLM - 40,000 - 6.5F - TURF (3:04 PT)

4 SNOWDAY 7-2 Bejarano Hollndorfer

5 GIANT EGO 15-1 Perez Diodoro
7 U S CITIZEN 8-1 Van Dyke O’Neill
6 LUCKARACK 6-1 Espinoza Moger

4 SNOWDAY
Once fast enough to run within 6 lengths of multiple G1 winner, Olympic Glory and 2nd to G1 winner, Style Vendome. Hollendorfer 17 for 44 with 36 in the money (39% win, 82% ITM) first off the claim in So. Cal. for this owner team. Claimed from a very nice 2nd at Del Mar at this level. Top call rider up.

5 GIANT EGO
Diodoro claimed this Idaho-bred for 32k in his last start and enters for 40k today. Diodoro 28% when first off the claim in So. Cal. and employing this rider. Clockers extremely high reports from the 58.2 bullet move on 12-21.

R2 CLM 10k – 6F DIRT (1:00 PT)
7 ELTONINADRESS 8-5 Baze

6 IT’S AINE 3-1 Aragon
3 PEPPY BOLLY 7-2 Talamo
1 TRIBAL PEACE 9-2 Gryder

7 ELTONINADRESS
She looks too good for these. She was in for a starter allowance purse of 19k last out and that is the same purse as today. She was game in the win over a class dropper. Main competitor, Its Aine, was up the track in that win. Owns the best early gas. Supertrainer knows how to keep them winning. Wires.

6 IT’S AINE
Low percentage rider gave this one a superb ride in the 5-2 win last out which came over many in here. She has now won 3 of her last 6 starts and owns a close second in that time span, as well. Couldn’t handle the top choice 2 back and without a real excuse. She does her best running off the pace. Passes some.

R1 MSW 56k – 1M TURF (12:30 PT)

1 SILVER STARLIGHT 3-1 Bejarano O’Neill

2 OMORFI KOPELLA 8-5 Talamo Sadler
4 LUCKY ILLUSION 10-1 Stra Bonde
3 SWISS JET 4-1 Canchari Abrams

1 SILVER STARLIGHT
Ran on late for a solid 4th in debut at 9-1. O’Neill, who trained the sire (G1 placed in Europe on grass) tabs Bejarano, who rode the graded stakes winning sib to all 4 of her wins. Winner in the debut ran 2nd by half a length in the 200k Sov Prob. 5th was Bad Ju Ju who returned to win by 9 beating two in here. Turf is the question.

2 OMORFI KOPELLA
Ran 2nd in a strong race down the hill in the debut. The winner of that race was a firster for Proctor who ran 4th beaten just 1 ¾ in a G3 next out. Last was a flop at 3-5. 4 works since. Better here.

1-2-15

R1 CLM 10k – 1 1/16 DIRT (1:00 PT)
5 ACUTE 5-2 Pedroza

7 INCREDIBLE JOURN 6-1 Baze
2 SPIRIT OF TEN 6-1 Pereira
1 I’M NO PATSY 7-2 Gutierrez

5 ACUTE
She went wire to wire as the favorite in her last start up at LRC. That was her 5th win in 14 tries on a dirt track. The other 4 wins were here at SA. She is 2 for 2 at this distance. Those wins came back to back in the winter here easily wire to wire. Other speed here. She can rate if she needs to. Pedroza stays.

7 INCREDIBLE JOURNEY
She was 2nd to the top choice in her last out but she missed the break and was relegated to chase mode while that one had an easy lead. She ran well at this distance two back when she was 2nd at 9-2 over this track. She has been in the exacta 5 of 8 on this surface. Might benefit from fast early pace. Late run.

R1 MDN CLM 30k – 1M DIRT (12:30 PT)

10 MY CHARLIE BOY 8-1 Baze Miller

6 MR. CHASE 4-1 Pedroza Casse
9 INCREASE 7-2 Pereira Avila
7 CALL IT GOOD 5-1 Smith Cassidy

10 MY CHARLIE BOY
Miller is 32% MSW to MC with a $5.60 ROI. He is 4 for 10 (40%) with 9 either 1st or 2nd (90% in the exacta) when making that drop to this MC30k level. This is also a first time gelding. The Kitten’s Joy runner was in tough in both turf races. Winner of his last out, Bolo, romped vs a good field of alw foes next out. Back to T Baze.

6 MR. CHASE
Was expected to be ok after he sold for 97k (sire fee is only 2k). He was gelded before his race two back when 3rd for 75k but only a neck out of 2nd. Nice set of drills since last. Expect best effort.

R7 CLM 12k – 1M DIRT (3:38 PT)

3 UNUSUAL LOVER 6-1 Baze Glatt
1 EBONY GOLD 8-1 Canchari Grayson
4 RAINBOW NORTH 2-1 Maldonado Miller
9 STOLEN PROPERTY 5-2 Perez Mullins

3 UNUSUAL LOVER
Hasn’t been on the track since August 2013. He comes back as a first time gelding. Glatt has good numbers with first time geldings and a high ROI with long layoff types. Has been a turfer. Split the field of 10 in only dirt start. Baze up a positive.

1 EBONY GOLD
Couldn’t get involved in last start at LRC. Thinking he is better than he showed there. Was 3rd in a key race last time he was at SA. Big late runner gets a hungry, young rider up today.

R5 MSW 56k – 6.5F TURF (3:04 PT)

7 TIZAPALOOZA 4-1 Bejarno
8 FOREST CHATTER 8-5 Smith
6 THE CUSTODIAN 6-1 Gutierrz
5 SILVER SPIRIT 12-1 Solis

7 TIZAPALOOZA
Hasn’t been able to break well in either of his two starts. He was in a strong race in his last start and set the pace in there. The 3rd place finisher came back to run 2nd in a MSW and 4th place dropped to mc35k and won. Clockers are high on last move.

8 FOREST CHATTER
Certainly looks the one to beat in here as he was 2nd on the turf at DMR in his last start. The winner was favored and well meant in that spot. Like how far clear he was from 3rd. Clockers have him looking very good in the morning. Tough to deny.
