Not dissimilar to how the European courses developed themselves...although some refinements have been made over time to facilitate a smoother riding of the G1 tracks...
European race data is more akin to Tour De France cycling when you bring topography / shape of the race / peloton data into the mix with the differing terrain versus traditional track adjusted speed figure / sectional timing data
With the vastness of the country I'm just surprised there isn't more variety in American turf tracks, is it that different to designing a top level golf course for example?
