Andrew Luck retiring

I just heard on the Jet game that Andrew Luck is going to retire.
Supposedly going to be announced tomorrow. Too bad. When healthy Luck is one the top 5 QBs in the NFL in my opinion. Unfortunately he's been hurt most of his career. No thanks to the idiots like Irsay and Grigson who had no idea how to build a team. Traded a a 1 for a mediocre running back.
This last injury was probably the last straw..

I'm happy and sad for him.

He is getting out with his health which I'm sure was a major consider which I can only assume was his neck problems.

But sad for what he really wanted to accomplish as a player in the NFL.

And then happy again as he gets out while supposedly still 'healthy' able to walk and with a large sum of money to his name.

I wish him all the best, as I do anybody. He is a good man.

I remember a play last year. Luck was scrambling and a corner hit him a few yards out of bounds. The ref threw the flag and all the players gathered and it looked like a fight would happen. When Luck got up the corner puffed out his chest and faced him. Luck gave him a pat on the helmet and ran back to the huddle. The whole situation was resolved by his class and sportsmanship. I am not a Colts fan but I was really shook up when I heard the news. But it just might be for the best.

Shameful

Colts "fans" who booed Luck off the field last night should rot in hell.
The man has a long list of serious injuries. They want a gladiator?
What is it with some people? Big thumbs down for them.

I wish Andrew Luck every possible success in the future.
At least he has the good sense to know to call it a day.
Hopefully, his grand kids get to thank him for it.

it is a blow for sure but the future is still very bright with chris ballard running the show with a ton of cap space.

I think the timing and part of this is telling the Colts FU you never got me the help the I needed. But I believe he's sick and tired of being sick and tired. More NFL athletes will be doing this.....

In his first 3 years Luck was sacked more than any other QB in the NFL. The Colts mis managed his shoulder injury he ends up missing a year. Then he hurts his calf in April and then they say it's the Achilles . It's 4 months Luck had zero confidence in that staff. With good reason.

I used to move the 49ers gear and we would often pick it up at the SF airport to deliver it to their training facility in Redwood City on the following Monday after the game..

I would see many of these young players, barely able to move, sitting in whirlpools, bruised all over ...It is little wonder that many of these guys windup with shortened careers,

I never saw one guy, a linebacker, without a cast on his wrist...

This is a BRUTAL game and some are just not up to the constant physical assaults on their musculoskeletal system.

If you want to observe a body language test.......watch his press conference and it's a festival of "sincerity" not once did he seem insincere or show signs of any deception. In fact I might say that he seemed "depleted"

The guy has a lot of class. He could have gone on the injured list and "hoped" to come back in six months, but he cut the cord and in that way the team can move on and play without distractions, especially quarterback distractions which can ruin a season.
Apparently he just got tired of the injury/pain/rehab cycle and I admire his decision. But if I were a betting man, I think he'll be back next year. You can only drive the kids to school so many times.

Didn't see a good chunk of his career, but he seemed like he was the 'prototypical NFL QB'.

I never happened to watch him and be amazed at his skill, or feel that he was going to carry a team and win a bunch of games that shouldn't be won, but he was good. He could throw a good slant and a good deep ball.

I have absolutely no idea how his body feels or works. So no opinion from me on the retirement itself.

tough qb matchup here but hopefully the colts can come out strong and control the line of scrimmage on both offense and defense!!
