I remember you think Trump is too dumb to be a big time crook by design. I don't.
His lack of smarts is a double edge sword. May keep him out of serious trouble, and there are safeguards set up to catch fools, but stumbling blindly into conflicts nevertheless is not that complicated..

Actually the discussion is whether or not Chumpy is intelligent enough to engage in a conspiracy (collusion) to defraud the U.S. in cahoots with the Russians manipulating the 2016 election. My answer is his intelligence was not really the issue. as much as greed and ignorance. The intel term coined by the Soviets is a "useful idiot."
In my view his greed led him to blindly grab the "worms" Putin dangled in front of Chumpy's nose, and he got hooked not caring much who dangled the worms. During the campaign I believe when the FBI and CIA briefed him and he realized his pals and associates had extensive Russian contacts, Chumpy realized he was "caught" on Putin's fishing line. A coverup ensued, Chumpy still believing "no big deal".
elysiantraveller believes Trump was not even smart enough to be a "useful idiot" We both think his incompetency as a diplomat and foreign policy maven, demonstrates his actual ineptness dealing with more skilled foreign actors, who take advantage of his ignorance and naivete. I think both of us maintain he is a danger to our country.
