The purses stink in France so it's not all that.

I don't know if this is accurate ( don't get all upset....please ). The Stakes purses are not great overall, but the mid level purses are decent. I wonder if you are thinking about England.

I was reading about this in the Racing Post just the other day. If I can find the article, I will post the link.

Come on! Everyone knows how GREAT things are in England! Isn't that why our racing is always talked about like the red-headed stepchild?

I was going on past horses we had that raced there. The purses stunk compared to here. Add in having to speak French or try to understand English with a French accent, and I couldn't find good justification for being over there.

What exactly do you think can’t be just you?

Was my sarcasm about how great it is in Europe while we’re always so horrible undetected? Or my humor about my inability to understand well French or heavy French accents?

The purses are bad in Europe. That’s my opinion. Not that I’m particularly happy that our purses are a result of subsidies instead of a thriving sport.

Shockingly you reacted badly when someone proved you were wrong about something you said. Tough game to play if you cry every time you are wrong.

You really think you proved me wrong quoting some article pointing to how great the purses are in France when 4 claimers, 2 handicaps and 2 G2s gave away a total of $188,000 euros ($209,922)?

Recent G2s in America:
Dixie - $250,000
American Turf - $400,000
Distaff Turf Mile - $400,000
Sheepshead Bay - $194,000

Recent Belmont 2 allow & 4 claimers:
$45,000
$33,000
$28,000
$50,000
$70,000
$68,000
Total: $294,000

Recent CD 2 allow & 4 claimers:
$27,000
$48,000
$25,000
$39,000
$87,000
$87,000
Total: $313,000

Taking the lowest 2 G2 purses and the lowest combined claimers/allows, and we have a total of $738,000.

So $209,000 versus $738,000. I do not stand corrected.

Keep in mind in Europe they don't race as much - they also race on grass -more breakdown on dirt.
