It would be interesting to see how that data held up . . .

I found where I left off, skipped 2011 since the winner came out of a synthetic track race. Not sure how to handle those. I'll work on it next week.
Then I did 2010. Top three were Ice Box, Dublin, Super Saver.
For some reason (maybe pre synthetics?), I then went to the beginning of my data, 2004:
Top 3: The Cliff's Edge, Lion Heart, Smarty Jones
The last one I did was 2005: Afleet Alex, Bellamy Road, Greeley's Galaxy
I'll finish the rest this week and post. The query is all set up but takes a bit to run it for each year and pair up with the horses that actually ran in the Derby.
I guess I'll just treat synth race like the others and see how it works out.

Anyways, how about givin' us your Prep Final Fraction info in a list for the Derby Top Twenty. It would be twice as bestest if you pressed that button that gives us feet per second and better bestest if you press that button that gives us fastest to slowest . . . here is what I'm thinkin':
36.36 seconds / 54.05 feet per second - Haikal
37.06 seconds / 53.42 feet per second - Tacitus
37.69 seconds / 52.53 feet per second - Tax
Lookin' forward to seein' your work.

The original numbers are way off for the Wood.. posted by Mr. P.I.
cut and pasted from drf...
Times in 5ths: :233 :464 1:112 1:374 1:511
Times in 100ths: :23.62 :46.91 1:11.46 1:37.81 1:51.23
doesn't come close to matching at all...final /38ths in 39.77 for the winner....which the way they were running....looks more logical as well...
wonder how many more are off...

The call times are for the leader. The winner was 7.5 lengths back (~1.5 seconds) at the 3/4 pole hence adjustments need to be made to get his fraction.

If the final 3/8 ths were run in 39.77 and Tacitus was 7 lengths back or 1.5 seconds then 39.77-1.5=38.27. Maybe I'm doing something wrong but I don't see where the 37.06 came from.
