I missed a trifecta at Churchill Downs...
...by this much
[.................................................. ...............................]
It keeps us playing, because we were real close.

No I don't, and that's by design. When I'm right, I get paid, and long term it works out very well. That was a particularly difficult one to deal with though!
Though I'll admit that in the Hi5 I used the 1 in the 3rd spot. Missed that too when the 11 got dq'd.

Ouch. Was surprised to see the stewards DQ'ed the horse from an incident in the first turn. Must have been pretty flagrant. Cost you $40 to $70K or so, by my estimates.
That would have set you up for quite a few of those Tomacelli's Specials. Man I miss that place, but I sure don't miss the scenery or weather there in Sioux Falls....

Some people are just followed around by a dark cloud, I am one of those, I do believe I am even on the racing luck, it is just other areas where I am owed plenty of good luck.

It's very small consolation, but it was a great bet.

Isn't it fun to wake up the next morning to some winners?
To answer you question--
I usually am in bed by 8:30 -9. I like to read. I also get up every day 4-5 AM for work and 5-5:30 on weekends, unless there's a reason I have to say up later.
Could be why I've never married.
Also, I don't mind putting in bets, if I guess the odds won't dip below 5-2, and not watching.
Canterbury lets us bet the next day's card, which I did a few times last year. I then get refunds for scratched horses.

It's a tough one to take of course but yes, I'm happy with how I bet it.

I've channeled my inner Charlie and have been punching cold pick 3s, tris, etc recently.
I guess the philosophy is that it's hard to be right but when you are you need to be paid handsomely!
