When I lived in NJ I went most every day to Freehold simo to bet. Little by little they eliminated the smoking areas till there was only one place left where smoking was allowed, up in the clubhouse. It's a big room and they had it sectioned off so you had to walk through the non-smoking section to get to the smoking area. Walking through, one might see a small hand full of bettors in the non-smoking section, while the smoking room was full. Then they eliminated smoking all together and the attendance really fell off.

Now the smokers go to the OTB where they can walk outside and have a smoke.

I'm no longer up north but have friends that go to Philly Park, which was never Liberty Bell, and those that smoke don't want to go there anymore because just recently they made it a smoke free building. The horse room is on the 5th floor so who's going down 5 floors to go out for a smoke.

Incidently, it's strange how AC profits went down recently, right after the smoke free law went into effect.
Just a thought
It's true ... but you are not supposed to notice. You are supposed to look the other way or make-up some other flimsy excuse to blame for what is happening.

A guy at CT told me that that the price on the little DRF booklet there (the one DRF bought from Sports Eye) went up fifty cents. I don’t know if it was DRF or CT that raised the price. He said it happened a while back. He also told me that he hasn’t bought one since. Says he’s waiting on the poker tables now. There goes some more horseplayer money out of the pools.

that's because much of this off-track handle isn't paying 31%!!
