Guys...please.
I admit it's stupid, but unless something has changed Handily and Breezing mean the exact opposite things in CA as they do elsewhere.
Breezing in CA = Handily in NY.
Happy to admit I'm wrong if that's no longer true.
And speaking of workouts, with no training centers in SoCal, and limited stabling, the mornings at SA probably pound the sheet oout of the surface as much as 10 days of racing. It's a mob scene of horseflesh.

That's how I always understood it. The labels are rather useless anyway, if you look up any of the discussions that Raybo and others used to have about workouts and the labeling thereof.
Again, even if for some reason CA horses were worked harder, that didn't start this meet with all the breakdowns. It's irrelevant, and we're going off on too many irrelevant tangents now.

clockers can barely keep up with the works. I've mentioned this a very long time ago but if you really knew how many of the published works are absolute guesses you'd put next to no faith in published works. Especially right after the break. No way they can clock a dozen horses busting out within a couple minutes of each other.

As long as they get one published w/o in thirty days prior to entering let them race then into shape. Bigger fields and the public and horses would be better serviced. Limit the workouts.?

In the interest of getting my facts right, I should amend what I wrote in post #123 back on page #9.
According to Wikipedia, Twitter was first created in 2006:

That said, I stand by the rest of what I posted.

You sound like a racing secretary.
The problem is, your horse wouldn't run as fast, if you raced him every week. They'll run faster if you race every 4 weeks or so. Workouts aren't as hard on the animal as full-blown races, and are usually shorter distances too.

So then Breezing in NY = Handily in CA ?
Got it. Thanks.

They need to start running one turn 5 furlong races, like Gulfstream. That 6 1/2 downhill has a dirt track obstacle crossing that many horses do not seem to like.

They run 5 furlong turf races already. Have been since last fall.

I don't play there enough to notice. As soon as they run 4 races in a row at the distance (like one day recently at Gulfstream), I probably will.

OK, everyone, I have EXCLUSIVE footage of Santa Anita's track being maintained, at 0:05 in this video:
More seriously, it's amazing how Santa Anita looks basically exactly the same 72 years later.
