DRF: Leading owner Paolucci getting out of racehorse ownership
http://www.drf.com/news/leading-owne...orse-ownership
Excerpt:
Regarding the Heavenhasmynikki incident, Paolucci told Daily Racing Form at the time: “I will go to my grave saying – and I don’t care who believes it – if Bob Baffert or Steve Asmussen or Chad Brown entered that horse, there’s no chance on God’s green earth it would even be questioned. None. Zero.”
Paolucci said Thursday by phone from his primary residence in Frisco, Texas, that his clashes with “the racing elite” have taken a toll on his mental and physical health, and “the final nail” came with the disqualification of Game Over from a July 9 allowance at Thistledown.
Game Over won easily when coupled with another Loooch horse, Chromium, at 1-5 odds. However, Chromium, ridden by Luis Raul Rivera, was deemed guilty of fouling another horse, leading to Game Over being placed second.

hes right. the bills keep going up and up. you pay more and more, put in hours and hours. then u catch a track with a strong against bias, get a lousey steer or a no try or a minute or 2 of excitement. there's 1 winner and the others cant pay their bills. like he says its not fun anymore.
chad brown, todd Pletcher, bob Baffert, the only ones dancing.

Rivera/Chromium almost put the the second choice over the rail in that race. It was the type of foul where players gathered let out a gasping "OH!!". There was absolutely no doubt that it warranted a DQ.
I can empathize if he felt that the race-call was a bit unprofessional. I can also empathize if the stewards made some kind of official comment that regarding 'intent' and that was his gripe.
Yes they were a tag-team entry who used tried to help each other. That's fine with me. The problem happened when the jock of the 1a messed up. Had he secured the path and slowed his rival, they would have gotten paid. He went too far and ping-ponged the 3, and blew it.

Thanks for the heads up.
I saw this with 5 minutes to spare, so I ran out to the car to listen.
Good interview.
Who is the totally worthless jackass announcer they were talking about?
That guy needs to be fired on the spot. Absolutely no professionalism at all - an embarrassment to the game of racing. If it were my horse and he called that, I would have headed up to the roof to punch him in the mouth.
I would suggest we all boycott Ohio racing, but looking at their attendance and handle, it looks like we already are!
Ohio Racing's motto-
Crap on the track, crap in the booth.
Or...
Not all the turds are in the barns.

Thanks for putting it in proper perspective! This is prime example why we need coupled entries and why betting owners are not good for parimutuel sports.

No doubt the DQ was justified.
And agree - all the more reason that we MUST have coupled entries.
If we need to uncouple entries in order to fill races, maybe we need to replace racing secretaries instead.
That is like a restaurant offering a 5 course meal - and counts butter as a course.

This was a good DQ. The rest is just fluff, it was the right call.

Surprised nobody has mentioned this yet.....
Scanning through the results charts this morning and I noticed Looch was involved with a Del Mar claim yesterday.
So much for " I've had enough " and " definitely getting out "

Covered in the supertrainer topic......bad for racing
I don't think the recent disqual in Ohio was "the thing"......I think it's a combination of many things for this owner.......I'm sure he's right about some of it.

Look, I have nothing against Mr. Paolucci, but maybe he would have more fun if he didn't keep making bone-headed decisions with his horses such as thinking an UNRACED maiden belongs in the Breeders Cup or expecting Ria Antonia to run with the likes of California Chrome....
