No insurance for you!
The insurance store is closed. Come back next year.
Quote:
There is yet another ObamaCare surprise waiting for consumers: from now until the next open enrollment at the end of this year, most people will simply not be able to buy any health insurance at all, even outside the exchanges.
"It's all closed down. You cannot buy a policy that is a qualified policy for the purpose of the ACA (the Affordable Care Act) until next year on January 1," says John DiVito, president of Flexbenefit which has 2,500 brokers.
John Goodman of the National Center for Policy Analysis in Dallas adds, "People are not going to be able to buy individual and family policies, and that's part of ObamaCare. And what makes it so surprising is the whole point of ObamaCare was to encourage people to get insurance, and now the market has been completely closed down for the next seven months."
That means that with few exceptions, tens of millions of people will be locked out of the health insurance market for the rest of this year.
Only about one in four subsidy-eligible people signed up for health insurance," says Robert Laszewski of Health Policy Associates. "That means about 13 million subsidy-eligible people have not yet signed up for health insurance."
“In all likelihood," says Laszewski, "we've only signed up somewhere between one in five and one in seven people who were uninsured prior to the start of ObamaCare."

Story at Fox News, of course. Let the attacks begin.
A related story from NPR says that Nevada passed a law allowing year around sale of individual policies, and it appears to be the only place in the country allowing this.

Can you not purchase an "unqualified" plan?
Or are all of those now outlawed?

Unqualified plans are effective non-existent in the individual market because the projected demand was near zero so the insurance companies generally didn't even bother getting them approved by their state commissions for this year. And the state commissions made it clear they didn't want to deal with then either. The law allows qualified plans to be sold now, but as the NPR article says, few if any insurers are offering any individual plans outside the sign-up period because:
1. no one in the young and healthy demographic would buy in that period;
2. no subsidies are available during that period, so no one who would normally get a subsidy would buy unless they were sick; and
3. even off-exchange policies sold during that period have to cover pre-existing conditions.
So the only thing really available would be a temporary policy such as medical indemnity, and those don't have to cover pre-existing conditions, so no one would want one.

You just don't know what is good for you. Someone with the special knowledge will be along shortly to explain it to you.

Clocker,
Thanks for the info. That is amazing.
With this being the case, I guess we will have 2 seasons each year for health insurance:
1: The "Let's sign up the ObamaCare Group" season, where insurance agents can't wait to get to work writing new policies.
2: The Aflac season for all those hospital benefits policies.

Clearly this is best explained (and legislated) by someone who has never actually boughten insurance before.

Americans are oppressed by an illegitimate government ruled by the Obama tyrants. They rule not by law and the Constitution, but by lies and naked force.
The Bush/ Cheney criminals fit right in with the Obamabots.
We will have 16 years of criminal elements in the US government that have pulled off a coup against democracy.
Americans have placed themselves firmly in the grip of tyranny.
Have a great day!
