Delaware Park sold by Rickman family

Delaware Park has been sold by the Rickman family to a group that includes Rubico Partners. Rubico just completed the purchase of Louisiana Downs, with an expressed intention there to restore its racing profile.

Hope that becomes the case in both places. Two nice little tracks.

Here's the release from the Louisiana Downs purchase:

Kevin Preston, President of Rubico Acquisition Corporation, said: “A new era for Louisiana Downs begins today. Our team will begin restoring this iconic facility to its former glory. We know it has a lot of untapped potential and we are ready to make this a family-oriented destination once again.”

I saw a lot of great horses in the Super Derby. I hope they can attract that type of horses again.

I visited Delaware Park many times, before I moved to FL. Very nice place but it had its heyday when it was the only casino in the area. It's going to be very hard to bring back the glory days.

My suggestion for it, as well as for most racinos, is to have a short 6-week meet with high purses funded by the casino. Starting in June, and ending with their Delaware Handicap.
