Bris offers data files for manipulation, data basing, and computer analysis, DRF does not.
Bris offers Quirin type speed points and running styles, DRF does not.
Bris offers late pace numbers, Drf's Moss pace figs do not.
Bris offers race ratings, DRF does not.
I agree with proximity, that DRF's Beyer speed figures are at best equal to or inferior to the Bris speed numbers.

As to the figures, I'll have to run a more recent test. The last time I did it was two years ago and Beyer was better with both win percentage and ROI.
The example from EvD isn't very strong. The winner was first off the claim. Figures usually go out the window in that situation, both good ones and bad ones.

DRF
Daily Racing Form printed media. Reason being its hands on and the best scratch sheet available. Digital version works well with Adobe Reader 10's post it notes and highlights. However, printed media is once again cheaper thanks to DRF's online PP price hike.

Sure...DRF has data files that can be used for databasing, computer analysis, and whatever else it was you mentioned. You export them via Formulator software.

Might be a stupid question, but will this "formulator' software work with PDF (post time daily) files?

Windoor.

There are some discrepancies, especially in the result files. Jeff changed the exporter slightly and I believe Harry already has as solution for the rest of it.
I was told the speed numbers in HDW are based on Cramer figs. I have not done extensive testing yet, but they appear to be superior.

S**T, I got caught. I'm supposed to be installing the new dishwasher. My wife comes in and gives me grief.
I am slowly losing the war. At least it wasn't porn

No, it is only for Formulator files, just as other companies make software to use their own files.

Ok, I'll take your word for it, haven't had any contact with Harry or Jeff lately.

you had a lightly raced horse bred for the distance (3 on helm) with a 4-5 length advantage on bris speed. i have a hard time believing you'd pass such a play if the advantage was on your own figures whether the horse was first off the claim or not. maybe i'm wrong? my point was that the larger figure errors that can seriously influence bets are usually made by bris.

one fall a few years back i tried these figures and it seemed like they had great lakes downs as being the fastest track in the country. the meet had just ended and gld shippers were popping up as top figure horses at tracks all over the place. and they weren't winning. now certainly you could say that figures usually go out the window in these shipping situations, but you still want the numbers showing up on your pps to be at least somewhat correct.

I didn't handicap the race so I'm not going to pretend to have any special insights. In any case, I took your post the opposite, my fault. BRIS is done by computer and not scrutinized by a human when made. Sometimes that is good, but usually it isn't.

I use Bris for all the reason listed above - just wish they had Tomlinson Ratings.
