Nick Tahou's - Rochester's legendary home of the "garbage plate." My favorite is the hot dog version - Hot and Patots. Two dogs, macaroni salad, home fries, covered with hot sauce, side of bread. mmmm mmmm mmmm.

A good source of places like this is the Food Network show " Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives " My wife got the the host Guy Fieri's DDD book and I have made a couple of the recipes...great. Entertaining show and can lead the person who travels a lot off the beaten path. rbj

I enjoyed reviewing the Burger menu that BigMack posted, especially since it included Venison (which I adore). However, I have to admit when I got to the White Castle part of his post I was hit with a wave of disgust and nausea based on my one experience at White Castle several years back where I was more or less dragged to have a late night dinner there and was somewhat caught off base considering I had put up with a barrage of how wonderful it was and how I just had to go since I made the mistake of saying that I had never been to a White Castle before. I was actually surprised to see White Castle in Big Macks post because when I think of a Diner, I think of a traditional Diner and there is no place better to have breakfast in my opinion. A big breakfast of some good Corned Beef Hash, fried eggs and French Toast (preferably Challah Bread or Brioche French Toast) and lots of coffee.
Now back to burgers, it is amazing how wide a variety there are from White Castle inedibles to the more gourmet, the burger I had at Daniel Boulud Brasserie at Wynn a few years back

A diner with a good greasy meal is one thing, but White Castle is taking it too far, unless you want to spend the whole next day in your bathroom.

I see Guy's been there. Now, if you can get Alton on his bike again and visit it, that'd be something else.
I'll check it out (God I miss the Chicken Pie shop.) Thanks!
