you can't play them all. and most likely roadster gets the axe to the top 4
i would prolly use both of them in a part wheel in trips, where i try a pick a winner and key a horse for 2nd/3rd.....if i go that route. ..
you know. something like omaha/gw/ 6-8 horses/ and the same 6/8 horses for second with gw 3rd....

I also wonder what your thoughts are on Country House. He's off both our lists but he gives me this Gunnevera type vibe where I never pick him but then he always shows up like 'here for 3rd again' and never stops.

Country House seems to be a late rallying sort and is one of several that with a good trip could clunk up the exotics. I don’t plan on using him.

Do you really think Baffert is going to have all three of his way off the pace in slow fractions and none have a chance. NO! I actually expect Roadster to be very close to the pace if no one goes out with Maximum Security.

Good point, Baffert is a god and i'd be silly to forget that. Plenty of time to re-evaluate. I'm sure GW or Imp will sneak into some of my bets by post time.

We'll wait for post draw but pretty sure I'll end up just taking all the California horses with Tacitus plus a Fair Grounds runner and calling it a day.
I have no idea what to do with that Florida Derby. My instincts say toss em all.

Chances are one of the California horses will come in at a chalky price.
To me, Haikal looks like the underdog that could come in at a nice price.
I'm always a sucker for the closers.

I think I have Tacitus running 4th on one ticket, and that sure wouldn't be "a good price".
Many of the real underdogs have run 2nd in the Derby. they're not always Instilled Regard, Make Music for Me, or Went the Day Well down in 4th.
I save horses like Normandy Invasion, Frosted, Shackleford, Wicked Strong, etc. in 4th.
I like the 30-1s and 50-1s up closer than that. At least, that's how ya make $$. Otherwise, I can get pretty goood odds on any race during oaklawn meet so my derby is designed to be a little outrageous.
And, why not? I need to get paid for risking ANY MONEY AT ALL on young horses doing something they have never done before.

Paddle foot horses don't stay sound...A single axis joint being forced to circumduct puts enormous strain on collateral ligaments.

I wonder if anyone saw this in his conformation as a yearling? Usually the first rule of thumb when purchasing is make sure the horses's legs are right.

Of course, we'll have to wait and see what the odds are 10 minutes to POST TIME.
