POST TIME USA

The Saratoga issue of Post Time USA is out, for those of you at the track you might try to pick up a copy. Gene Stevens has an article "The Fall of Thoroughbred Racing & The Master Plan to Revieve it", not that I agree with eveything he wrote, its still an interesting read. Of course there are a couple articles bashing Frank Stronach and 1or2 about Indian Charlie.

Gene the publisher of POST TIME USA suppose to be at Saratoga until Labor Day. You can contact him at "posttimegene@yahoo.com or by cell phone 954 445 7223, he will be in the press box most the time, maybe he will deliver a couple of copies to the PA table.

POST TIME USA

I had heard a rumor, obviously false, that Gene wasn't putting that publication out any more. Anyway, I'll have to get a copy of the Saratoga issue, probably during one of the upcoming OBS sales, when they're usually made available.

By the way, my picture should be in that issue you have. It's of me and the General Manager of OBS ITW, Dale Popp, taken quite a few months ago when Gene was here for our "live racing" day.

For those of you who keep old issues, if you look in the lower left frame of p.22 of the August, 2006 issue, you'll see me and my wife "shilling" for Gene's Post Time USA at the OBS ITW.

Talk about a waste of paper.

And that's coming from someone who's actually been in that "magazine".

One of my fondest memories of working at Gulfstream is watching Breezin with Gino try to figure out who was taking his papers off the stands all around the track and trashing them. Ah. The good ol days!

That and setting the line each time Post Time came out as to how many times Gene would put his own picture in his own paper.

I never set the line lower than 45. It NEVER went under.

Last year the SAR issue was easily in the 60's. He's the Don Kirshner of racing.

Sounds like it was a 'rockin' affair' a week ago as recorded by Vic Zast in his diary.

Quote:
At 7:00 pm, a stunning Marylou Whitney arrived in a yellow ‘60s taxi at the Canfield Casino for her “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” party. Gawkers were given gaudy faux diamond rings and vials of blue bubble solution to blow kisses at her entourage. Whitney wore an elegant, black, floor-length sheath dress with a black mesh insert at the waist and a jewel-enhanced neckline. With a new roan-colored Tab Hunter hairdo and jewel-enhanced bolo, publisher Gene Stevens moved about the 300 curiosity seekers, passing out magazines.
Ha-cha-cha-cha-cha.
