for sake of clarity...he was suspended for viagra positives involving his horses.

considering the sex and age of most trainers, if they start suspending and fining trainers for using viagra...

It was a hard, stiff penalty.

Isn't it usually the jockey who "stiffs" the horse??...

the original use of PDE5 inhibitors

Erections were an empiric, after the fact use for this class of drug (PDE5 inhibitors, sildenafil and like drugs). It was originally used as a treatment for pulmonary hypertension, which makes sense. Lasix administration would be along the same theory.

Interesting. I'm unsure why Lasix was ever allowed if this isn't, to be honest.

I know it's used for high altitude mountain climbing. Suppose to help blood flow & breathing.

Did a multi-day adventure race in Chile Andes a few years back & one of our teammates brought some along for the 17,000ft climbs. Didnt use it, figure the climbs were going to be "hard enough".

Isn't Viagra expensive and wouldn't a horse need a large dose?

The Mudaris-trained runners Iancol and Shakeitupbetty finished fifth in consecutive races on Aug. 12, 2016, at Del Mar and tested positive for sildenafil. Iancol also tested in excess of the permitted level of the anti-inflammatory dexamethasone.

Iancol tested for 12 nanograms sildenafil, while Shakeitupbetty tested for 5.2 nanograms, according to the ruling. A nanogram is a billionth of a gram.

Funny you ask, it just became generic, and will be sold in the US December 1st by Teva. You can get Revatio, the same drug, already for $.70 a pill vs $35, just so you guys know.

It is said that Nellie Flag, who was a filly who went favored in the Kentucky Derby in the 1930's, lost the race because she was in heat.

I'm thinking the viagra thing might be problematic if there were any fillies or mares entered in the race.... (Of course, just think what the track announcer might have to say!)
