I like most of your horses.

So far Coliseum has impressed me the most.

Interested in seeing Vekoma run again.

if you guys arent using mybookie.ag for futures wagers your not doing futures wagers right. I got King for a Day yesterday for 250/1. Got game winner at 120/1 in september. The trick is to bet them early, they are lazy to update, I got Instagrand at 110/1, and Improbably at 175/1.

Something tells me that it might be very profitable to find a FILLY this year to win the Derby at some juicy odds....Time to get to work and start researching.

In several recent years the Breeders Cup Juvenile winner made up part of the exacta in Pool 1. I opted to make a $10 box Game Winner/All Others. I think I also did an $8 version Coliseum/All Others. Either combination only about 25-1 payoff but a cheap way to cover my butt with a bunch of potential Derby day combos. I can always add to them in the next pool. I collected on my Pool 1 box last year using Good Magic/All Others (Justify). The wager ultimately put GM over and under about a dozen horses for the price of one.

Threw a few bucks into the pool again this year and the sire pool just to see if my skills have improved any. I tried to get lots of coverage for a short price by taking the field over Coliseum, Improbable, Magic on Tap, Mucho and Uncle Benny for exactas and after looking at the sires pool and noticing that only 10 sires covered any horses in the other pool and proceeded to play a small wager on 3 sires with no covered horses in the pool but with a total of 56 horses from the early Derby nominated horses. I used Malibu Moon at 49-1 with 21 nominees, Medaglia at 21-1 with 19 nominees and War Front at 41-1 with 16 nominees. I also kept an eye on horses with listed sires and the odds of each. Like Improbable at 17-1 and City Zip also at 17-1. Best bet if you liked Improbable was to bet City Zip at the same odds and getting another 18 horses from the sires nominees. Same with Game Winner and Candy Ride. Same odds but candy Ride has 19 horses as nominees including Vekoma (who closed somewhere over 30-1 I believe) but you would have included some coverage for free. Just some things I look at this early. Not much else to go by right now.

The Field

I guess "all other 3yo colts" went off at 6-5.
Any price of even money, or higher, is a bargain imo.

I say that for one reason only - the ability to hedge.

Let's take a $5K bet as an example.
Say the wager was at 6-5, then it closed at 1-1.

Will revisit this thread in early May.
I'm pretty sure a decent four figure profit could be locked up at those odds.
