I have to admit, even though I was careful to never consider myself a Deadhead - I went to as many shows as I could make and enjoyed the everloving shit out of all of them, even the horrible ones. Grilled cheese never tasted so good.

I loved that they were in Eugene so much. I don't think I would have considered myself a Deadhead either, but just loved going.

Boy, am I out of it--my favorites are very different--I didn't realize how "out of it" I really am--

Andres Segovia Probably the greatest classical guitar soloist of all time; saw
him when he was in his 80's, almost unable to walk out on
stage, but, oh could he "play"--San Diego concert

Itzhak Perlman He could hardly walk out on stage, because he developed
polio at a young age, is crippled and walked out by
himself with braces on his legs; but possibly one of the
greatest violin soloist of our age; concert in Phoenix, AZ.

Jean-Pierre Rampal Great flute soloist; I saw him when I was a student
at San Diego State U.

DON'T disparage youself!

There's nada wrong with those lads. I would have included them if I'd seen them me-self!

Or a former next door neighbour, Mr. Gould, who I missed also...

The first time I saw him, in Central Park, I was shocked. I went along with two friends of mine, I had no idea that he was that good.

i remember seeing the Beatles in Sufolk downs sometime around 1965. the tickets were less than $5 and the place was packed. it was the very first show i ever went to.

10 years later i was in the portable dressing room business. i did the dressing rooms for Belmont Race Track concerts, Concerts on the Commons, Great Woods, Saratoga Performing Arts Center when they were remodeling and a few other places that had some big name events.

i was at the shows even though most of the time i never saw the acts on the stage, but i did see them in their dressing rooms.

I saw the original Creedence Clearwater at the old Spectrum in Philly for about $10 a ticket. I went Dover Downs simulcast and they advertised Creedence Clearwater Revival (COPY BAND) tickets starting at $35 and up.

I know it's crazy when you compare concert ticket prices from years ago to now, and that's not adjusted properly for inflation. I saw the Allman Brothers, The Elvin Bishop Band, and Johnny Winter And all on the same show at the Fillmore East and the tickets were $6.50. Johnny Winter and the Allman Brothers recorded live albums at those shows, and Elvin Bishop, who was the opening act, had a hit single at the time.

I've been to a few, though not hundreds of shows, and here's my take:

Best concert, large venue: A/C D/C at Metropolitan Arena, Twin Cities, 1981
Honorable Mentions, large venue: Scorpions, Kansas, Wisconsin Rockfest, 2000

Best concert, small venue: The Kings, Duffy's Bar, Twin Cities, 1981
Honorable mentions, small venue: Night Ranger, Medina, MN - 1998, April Wine, small bar in St. Paul, 2000

Worst Concert: The Rolling Stones, 1982, Sorrento, Italy - the sound was horrible. The J. Geils Band warmed up for them and sounded fine - not sure what the problem was.....
