Incomes increase under new right to work law

In spite of dire predictions of the end of the world by Dems and unions, personal incomes increased in Michigan after a new right to work law went into effect.

I will be the first to point out that there is not enough data yet to prove anything. But contrary to the wailing and moaning of the Chicken Littles, the sky did not fall either.

Quote:
When Michigan passed right-to-work in December of 2012, critics were quick to predict that workers’ compensation would plummet. Union officials derided it as "right-to-work for less".

Senate Minority Leader Gretchen Whitmer, D-East Lansing, said that right-to-work legislation would lower employee wages.

But the early returns show that hasn’t happened.

Michigan’s per-capita personal income increased from $38,291 in 2012 (before right-to-work became law) to $39,215 in 2013, according to the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Economic Analysis. That increase was the ninth highest in the country.

so you're saying that capitalism, where hard work and solid skill sets are rewarded more often than not, works. Got it.

The 2.4% increase in personal income in Michigan is the lowest since the Great Recession years of 2008 and 2009. Incomes in Michigan increased by 2.8% in 2010; 5.5% in 2011 and 3.4% in 2012.

2.4% was also the lowest non recession year increase since 1970, which is as far back as I could find records for. And things will only get worse as time goes by.

Why will things only get worse as time goes by? Explain this throwaway line with a fact or two.

You downplay Michigan's gain, but as pointed out, it was the 9th highest in the nation, so you can badmouth it all you want by comparing it to irrelevant years, but it's better than 49th place. That's relevant. They went up relative to other states in the same time period. I would like you to explain how that happened?

Please.

No, that's all just capitalist propaganda put out by the evil, union-busting robber barons and captains of industry, designed to keep the peasants happy working for starvation wages.

Everyone knows that.

So the Koch brothers are ruining Michigan by paying the workers more wages than non right-to-work states are paying their workers?? That's devious!!

Half of my daily enjoyment is seeing Mostie spin a sunny day into Superstorm Sandy. I hope he doesn't disappoint here.

What's really odd about subjects like this or even in the global warming thread is that when good news shows it's 'ugly' head, rather than celebrate these facts and be happy, we are most often greeted to the gnashing of teeth by the left because the misery of the people they are 'attempting' to help has abated. Hmm ....
