watching the Pegasus

The last time I saw such a well defined "match race within a race," were Affirmed/ Bid, Affirmed/Alydar, EG/Sunday Silence, Noor/Citation, and other older historical stakes and one thing held up: the horse that gets the lead usually triumphs. I say that as there are only TWO dominants in this contest as when viewed in their fractional components, 1 and 4 stand out in each fraction.

The questions would be 1) can anyone break this dominance up (probably EARLY certainly NOT late as those two dominate all the middle and later fractions) and 2) who will finish close under (JUST for fun as this race is defintely NOT worth a bet). Knicks Go's Breeder's Cup win garnered the HIGHEST ranking I have ever seen since I started using this software and Life is Good (from that same day at Del Mar) is not far behind. Since both of these are in form now, they won't have the luxury of slowing it down early as a single dominant animal could ( a Forty Niner or Affirmed).

Others in this that have earlies as close to the two favorties are Stilleto Boy (but this one has declined of late) and Sir Winston (historically only as he has declined in early his last several otuings).POSITIONAL earlies are 3 (Stilleto) and 5 Empty Tomb but this one does not have much late.

so best guess UNDER the top two ? 5 3 6

Wasn't last year's Saudi Cup one these "match race within a race"?

Neither horse won. One of them didn't hit the trifecta.

Knicks Go folded twice last year with pace pressure. Life is Good has never not been on the lead and has never run this far.

Good thing they are facing allowance horses.
