It's Been Awhile
Just looking over the opening day card at Colonial for Friday and noticed that #4 Urban Cowboy in the 4th race last raced 1974 (January 21, 2000) days ago. He is entered at MDSPWT 1 mile and 1/4 on the turf. This will be his second race lifetime at 8 years old. Should be well rested. Got any stats on 5+ years layoffs ?

Reminds me of a jke I heard a while back.
Two cowboys bring a 6 year old maiden to Belmont and enter him in a stakes race. The horse wires the fied and wins by 10, i his first career start.
The two Texans are immediately called to the stewards' office and are asked to explain why they never races a horse that fast before.
"We couldn't catch him 'til last month," was the reply.

Urban Cowboy
$8.40 to show. Voodoo handicapping! (actually I call that "spot" capping.)

They drop him to MCl and given him a 900 day break to freshen, and he should be the favorite!

Here's another one. Hastings Park race 5 this Saturday, June 25. River Ruckus is entered. Her last race November 5, 1999! That was her 3 year old year.

Dickinson can't train?
Dickinson can't train a dog to eat?
What he did with BUSINESS IS BOOMING is rather amazing. BIB won a race at MTH a few years ago off a 5 year layoff -- TO THE DAY. BIB then went on to win something like 4 of his next 5 races. This occurred sometime in the 2 years between DA HOSS's 2 BC Mile wins, so I wasn't surprised by DA HOSS's 2nd victory. I didn't have a ticket, but I wasn't surprised.
Over the last 2 1/2 years, Dickinson has won with about 22.5% of his starters. Since this probably puts him in the 97th percentile of trainers, I think it's unfair to say he can't train. His $2 ROI over that time is $1.79, so it sounds like someone is catching his fair share of Dickinson's 77.5% losers. I rarely bet his horses, which are mostly underlays, and I don't recall cashing more than 1 or 2 tickets on them ever, but I think it's safe to say MD can train a little.
He's just not easy to profit from.

Hastings
Big risk; look closely at her recent training before jumping in (I do not have the PP's).
